Working with proteins includes a lot of possibilities that allow obtaining very different products from the same origin. These products go from the protein isolates (which are generally insoluble) to peptides purified with specific biological function. We process the protein in PEVESA to offer the most suitable form in each use.
Is well known that protein extraction can be made using organic solvents (like chloroform); and that the protein hydrolysis can be carried out in the presence of acid, high pressure and high temperature.
Industrially relatively low acid concentration, but high pressure, is used generally. Anyway the publications are not many on that type of processes and very few patents are found. Alternatively other methods based on the application of strong bases or just the application of high pressure and temperature exist. The problems of this type of extraction and hydrolysis are the degradation of the resulting amino acids (for example, in an acid hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid the Tryptophan is destroyed) and that in the products obtained there are a high proportion of ashes (salts) and which is practically impossible to eliminate the solvents totally (even with expensive and complicated methods).
Here is where biotechnology appears. Biotechnological processes have the advantage of being specific to the molecules to extract or hydrolyse and using soft conditions (talking about physical parameters).
In order to carry out these processes in PEVESA we make from the initial design to the final production. PEVESA has a laboratory of product development, a pilot plant to make the scaling and a production plant for industrial scale. Any development made in our laboratory always is focused to the production in pilot scale; and also the pilot tests always are to obtain the necessary data for the industrial production.
Also the productive process of PEVESA is protected under diverse patents in the U.S.A. and Europe that guarantee their process.
